A short consolidation where price drifts slightly against the trend in a small channel, like a flag hanging from a pole. A break resumes the prior move.
Exemple
A stock jumps from $50 to $60 (the pole), then drifts down to $57 over a few days in a tight downward channel (the flag). A break above $60 often continues the up move.
L'erreur des débutants
Beginners mistake any pause for a flag. A real flag is short (days, not weeks), tight, and against the trend; a long, sloppy drift is not a flag.
