Overview

tradernewbie.com ("we", "us", "our") operates a free, AI-assisted trading education platform. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have.

We are committed to data minimization. We collect only what is necessary to operate the site and improve content.

What we collect

Information you provide

Email address — only if you subscribe to our newsletter. Used solely to send digests. Stored in Cloudflare D1.
Feedback messages — if you contact us, we retain the message and your email for support purposes.

Information collected automatically

Anonymous usage analytics — via Cloudflare Web Analytics. No cookies, no fingerprinting. Aggregated page views and referrers only.
Server logs — standard request logs (IP, user agent, timestamp) retained briefly for abuse detection. Not used for profiling.

Information stored locally in your browser

Theme preference (light/dark) — stored in localStorage.
Reading progress ("Marked as read" articles) — stored in localStorage, never transmitted to us.
Trading journal entries — stored in localStorage, never transmitted to us. Clearing browser data deletes them permanently.
Calculator inputs — may be reflected in the URL for sharing, but not stored server-side.

What we do NOT collect

No tracking cookies (Cloudflare Web Analytics is cookieless)
No cross-site tracking
No behavioral advertising profiles
No biometric or precise location data
No social media integration tracking

How we use your data

Deliver the newsletter you subscribed to
Respond to support and feedback emails
Aggregate, anonymized analytics to understand which content is useful
Prevent abuse (rate limiting on API endpoints)

Third-party services

Cloudflare

Hosting, CDN, D1 database, and Web Analytics. Cloudflare may process request metadata (IP, user agent) at the edge. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.

Resend

Used to send newsletter emails. Receives only the email addresses of confirmed subscribers. See Resend's Privacy Policy.

Data retention

Newsletter subscribers: until you unsubscribe (one-click, in every email)
Feedback emails: up to 12 months
Server logs: up to 30 days
Browser-local data: until you clear browser storage

Your rights

Under GDPR (EU/UK) and CCPA (California), you have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you
Request deletion of your data
Unsubscribe from communications at any time
Object to processing of your data

Children's privacy

tradernewbie does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

International transfers

Data may be processed by Cloudflare (global edge network) and Resend (US/EU). We rely on standard contractual clauses for EU/UK data transfers.

We may update this policy. The "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be announced in the newsletter.
